O coffee, if you were a woman
bitter and lonesome, dark and handsome,
Would you too scald my lips
mess my head, fill me with acidity
and be different in flavor each day
and be sweet only when I was buying you?
O coffee, if you were a woman
turbid and irksome, adamant and troublesome,
Would you too torture my tongue
sap me to your satisfaction, to dehydration
and be hard to get, or get rid off
and be nice only when I was serving you?

:)
hard to get is understandable
but 'get rid off' stretches the imagination some
(but then again am thinking of permanent liaisons while you may be hinting at one night stands?)

coffee is bittersweet woman is sweetbitter coffee
Aaman:) Don't show this poem to your woman then!
temporal: the one you would want to get rid off must have met you somewhere by now, I mean the coffee you did not want to drink but had to gulp down:)
Sujatha: half-empty, half full are pessimist optimist choice: for engineers like me, half full means cup is twice the size it should be.... though I'd much prefer Diwakar's standpoint... My coffee makes a great woman: wow! Lucky you!

Professor, I think Kauphy
By Pradzie on Fri, 2006-07-07 12:14
Professor,
I think Kauphy is indeed a woman, a full woman and nothing but a woman. But i DONT think that this coffee likes Marie, dipped or otherwise.
besides yuour candid proposal to her, what is with using handsome for woman and beautiful for a man?

Coffee
By atrakasya on Fri, 2006-07-07 13:25
er…pradz, I think he is talking about coffee, not kauphy (kinda like the time he was talking about tutti-frutti and you insisted that he was talking about some girl called tutti-frutti).
Although, I wonder if vivek would really like a woman that has diuretic properties.

A woman is ...

Good one Vivek. I think I’m finally beginning to get poetry. This one reminded me of the wisdom of the great philosopher Homer (Simpson) -
“Son, a woman is a lot like a… a refrigerator! They’re about six feet tall, 300 pounds. They make ice, and … um … Oh, wait a minute. Actually, a woman is more like a beer. They smell good, they look good, you’d step over your own mother just to get one! But you can’t stop at one. You wanna drink another woman!”
